The appellant seeks reversal of a decision made by the Van Buren Community School District denying his request to have land adjacent to the Fairfield Community School District transferred from Van Buren to Fairfield.
He and his wife prefer to have their child attend school in Fairfield, where they have family, friends, and community ties. They appeared before the Van Buren board and requested the transfer of land; the issue was tabled for the next month's meeting. The appellant then made the request before Fairfield, and it was approved.
The appellant once again approached the Van Buren board, and the request was denied. There is no compelling overriding interest on the part of an individual school district, no arbitrary and capricious action, abuse of discretion, unreasonable action, or unconstitutional or illegal action taken by the local board.
The local board's decision is affirmed.
