Summary

The appellant seeks reversal of a decision made by the Dubuque Community School District denying the request for his daughter to have an independent-study algebra class substitute for seventh- or eighth-grade math.

He felt his daughter had a high degree of probability of her success in math, and the district does not contest that; however, he also felt the current enriched 7th grade math program is repetitious and not beneficial for a student such as his daughter. The district felt she would benefit academically and socially by remaining in the math program. There was shown no detriment to the student by way of her continuing in the current math placement

The local board's decision is affirmed.
