Summary

The appellants seek reversal of a decision made by the Indianola Community School District removing their son from a Metals I class.

The student was removed from class as he was caught throwing an object, which was grounds for removal. This policy was made known to the class, however the student indicated he may have been absent when this policy was discussed in class. Being removed meant he would be one credit shy of graduation requirements and would have to take summer school or correspondence course.

The appellants allege nine errors of procedure and judgment by the local board, among them being lack of due process and imposing a penalty too severe for the infraction.

The decision of the local board is overruled.
