The appellants seek reversal of a decision made by the Chariton Community School District about the guidelines for assignment of students to attend school outside their normal area.
They objected to this policy because:1) One person should not control the choice of students to be transported out of one elementary school to another.2) Once a child from a family is transported, other children in the family should not be transported until all families in the Columbus school area have had a child transported3) Families in the Van Allen area should share the burden of being transported with those in the Columbus area, and4) The period of transportation should be one year, not two.
There has not been sufficient reason to overturn the board's decision.
The local board's decision is upheld.
