Summary

The appellant seeks reversal of a decision made by the Iowa High School Athletic Association Board of Control imposing a period of ineligibility in accordance with the transfer rule. Because of a family situation, he moved to Ames Community School District from Decorah Community School District to live with his brother. This move made him ineligible to compete in interscholastic athletics for 18 weeks. He requested a waiver, which was denied by the board.

The appellant's attorney brought up during the hearing a request for reconsideration due to a "broken home condition". The appellant was sufficiently alienated from his parents to consider the situation as a "broken home condition".

The decision of the board is overruled, insomuch as the appellant presents proof of the "broken home" condition.
