Summary

Records may be destroyed once they are microfilmed. Whatever method of microfilming is used, reasonable precautions should be taken to see that improper use of records is not made by anyone participating in microfilming them. If it is the only copy, it must be stored in a fire-resistant safe or vault. Giving student records to a museum or historical society without the consent permission of the student or parent would be a breach of confidentiality.
