Full Text
Summary

The appellant seeks reversal of a decision made by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union board imposing an 18-week ineligibility period in accordance with the transfer rule. The board determined that since she transferred from a private school to a public school in the same district without change of residence of her parents, the ineligibility was to be imposed.

The rule in question protects student athletes from the possibility of recruitment and enticement and to maintain the amateur character of high school athletics.

The transfer rule is a valid one in accordance with what appears to be the majority view of most state courts, and the athletic board properly applied it to this case.

The board's decision is upheld.
