The district is to provide optional transportation to all public and nonpublic students on the same basis within the limits the district has established, and the receipt of the optional transportation is then discretionary with the parents. The district could negotiate a contract with a private contractor for the service and charge parents of all students the difference between what the district will subsidize and the actual cost of the service.
