Appellant, J.C., seeks reversal of a June 4, 2019 decision by Des Moines Independent Community School District ("District") Board ("Board") denying a late filed open enrollment request on behalf of child, C.C.

C.C. is going into 8th grade at Hoyt Middle School During the 2018-19 school year, C.C. was involved in two unrelated incidents at school with two different students. C.C. did not want to go back to school following the second incident.On May 15, 2019, J.C. filed an application for open enrollment requesting to open enroll C.C. from the District to Saydel.Appellee offered to accommodate C.C. at another attendance center within the District. Appellant states that she is willing to try Merrill Middle School, however there is a transportation issue.

Based on this record, we find that the Appellant's desire to attend Saydel is a matter of convenience and not because C.C. would be not safe at another Des Moines attendance center.

For the foregoing reasons, the decision of the Board on June 5, 2019, denying the open enrollment request filed on behalf of C.C., is AFFIRMED.
