Will Artino, an above-average baseball and basketball player, transferred from Des Moines Christian School to Waukee High School prior to the start of the 2008-09 school year. His parents ask for relief from the general transfer rule, 281?IAC 36.15(3) ? because they state that the reason for the transfer was financial.
As established in the case of In re Cooper Rose, 22 D.o.E. App. Dec. 242, changes in a family's financial circumstances are no longer considered because of the inherent difficulties and inequities in fairly evaluating changing economic status of families.
The decision of the IHSAA that Will Artino is ineligible to compete in varsity interscholastic athletics for 90 consecutive school days is affirmed.
