The appellants seek review of a decision issued by the Fort Dodge Community School District Board changing the district-wide point value of an A- grade retroactive to two years preceeding the vote.

They focused their appeal on equity. They believe a retroactive application of the change in grade point valuation of an A- was improper or unfair, and the timing (two weeks before the seniors graduated)was akin to "changing the rules at the end of the race".
